Steeks and Scandiwork!
2022 is almost here even though this time-suspending 2020/2021 period makes it seem even more surprising than usual that we are at the end of another year. As we all adjust to the spectrum of what feels comfortable to us, I am personally looking forward to getting together in whatever ways we can. I have the deepest gratitude for the vaccinations that make that possible - and those who have worked so tirelessly to create and administer them to us.
I have two great events ready to offer in early 2022 - and working on more to come later in the year as details get clearer and circumstances allow me to share them.
I am delighted and excited to be teaching at the lovely Fibershed Learning Center in Point Reyes Station, starting on February 19th. This knitting circle series encourages knitters of all levels to join in creating a steeked (cut open) cardigan featuring colorwork yokes. Participants may choose to knit either of Mary Jane Mucklestone’s Solbein or Stopover patterns. These are easy knits particularly suited to the wonderful array of local farm yarns. I love that we can take our time and relax as we knit these lovely garment(s) together. Find out more about all of this by following this link
In particularly exciting news, Kristin Drysdale of Scandiwork will be teaching on March 26 and 27 at an action packed two day Retreat. We will explore the rich underpinnings of Norwegian knitting symbolism in her designs, her eagerly anticipated new book ( and TRUNK SHOW!), the techniques she uses in her knitting, her own heritage and how you can incorporate all this into your knitting immigration story. I am beyond grateful to Kristin for her generosity and enthusiasm for doing this event. Marcia Barinaga - who might yet live to regret meeting me - but once again, has willingly jumped into collaborating, is hosting Kirstin - and all of us at her beautiful working ranch. (Oh, and did I forget to mention there will be lambs?) Find out more here.
And - if you haven’t yet visited Fiber Circle Studio in Petaluma —- you MUST! Alisha has created a community hub and her beautiful shop and loving heart bring joy to all fiber folk!
As always,, I am more than happy to answer any questions - or help in any way - just hit reply if you would like to get in touch with me.
I wish you all the best and brightest wherever you are and hope that you will be spending time with your loved ones and your knitting over the next few weeks.
I can’t wait to see you at a class or retreat in 2022 - hopefully sooner rather than later.
